:Ford Now

Ford has come out with a recall on this month.  This recall will affect about 125,000 vehicles between the Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion.  The National Highway Safety and Traffic Association confirm the announcement that the recall could cause a possible injury due to an accident.  So, far this only affect vehicle of two models and from a particularly part of a time frame.  Ford will be notifying owners as of January 24th, 2012.  If you need to stop by the dealer to see if your vehicle is affected you may or call the customer care number at 866-436-7332 with reference # 11S23.

The vehicles affected are the 2010 and 2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models.  The vehicles that were assembled from April 1st-30th, 2009 and December 1st, 2009 through Novemeber 13th, 2010.  The total count has come t0 126,616 with 8,220 units located in Canada.  The recall is due to a wheel stud fracture.  This could cause the driver to experience driver vibration or wheel separation increasing the risk for an accident.  Ford says they have the available parts for the fix and are instructing drivers to go to the dealers and let the technicians inspect the vehicle.  Ford will replace all lug nuts and any disc brake repairs that seem to have symptoms of wear from lug nut issues.

Do not be to frightened, there have not been any reports stating accidents from lug nut recall.  Have your Mercury Milan or Ford Fusion checked out at your local Olathe Ford Dealers.  If you bought your vehicle from Chrysler Dealership Ankeny or Alexandria Mercedes Dealers, as long as the factory warranty is in effect, you should be covered.  Due check with your paperwork or call the customer service number to ensure vehicle coverage.

The Ford E- Series can be two different cars and can be bought at Ford Dealer Minnesota. One of them is E-150 and the other is E-350. The E- 150 has a 4.6L V8 engine and the E-350 has a 5.4L V8. Both of the cars take unleaded gas(85% ethonal and 15% gas or you can mix the two).  These heavy duty wagons can tow up 10,000 pounds. These comfortable wagons weren't just made for space. If you needed to throw in a T.V or sofa, you can just remove the rear bench in the back. The E-350 offers an optional 6.8L Triton V10 with torqshift five speed automatic. If you can't see what is behind you when your backing up, you are going to be all right with the handy dandy  Rear View Camera. It will alert you if something is directly behind you and you are moving at a slow speed. The camera is located on rear license plate bracket. The camera will transmits the image to either the rear view mirror or the center console display.

There are different sizes of wagons. It can go from E-150 XL regular length to E-350 super duty extended length. There are thirteen different seating configurations and packages. The amount of people that this wagon can hold is crazy! It can hold either seven, eight, eleven, tweleve, fourteen, or fifteen people. The E-series engine cover has the basics for a convenience center. It has three cup holders, the console is color keyed, two handy storage bins, and a shelf that can hold a clipboard. It has a high quality cabin and powerful engine choices and is one of the top crossovers on the market, and it also comes with the Ford infotainment system that Ford is highly praised for. The 2012 Ford Focus which can be purchased from TX Ford Dealer and other local Ford dealers has earned top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety as well as from European agencies, and the 2012 Ford Focus will be available for sale at Richmond Ford Dealer and other Ford dealerships at the end of the year. The 2012 Ford Focus is equipped with the latest safety and tech features, and it looks to be another top selling compact vehicle from Ford, which has had great success with the Focus and other Ford models. Ford Dealers MD is now carrying the all new, 2011 Ford Edge.  It was ranked number 8 out of 23 Affordable Midsize SUV.  It comes equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that can create 285 horsepower.  The engine is paired with a six speed automatic transmission.  Ford is suppose to add a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine to it's lineup sometime this year.  It will include a specialized six speed transmission and should be an improvement to the fuel economy.

The Edge, from Ford Dealership New York, comes with a pretty cut and dry protection package.  It consists of three years or 36,000 mile basic warranty and a five year or 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.  The 2011 model has not yet been crash tested, but the 2010 model, from Ford Dealer Fairport, did very well.  It received five stars for protecting occupants in all outboard seating positions in side impact crash tests, five stars for driver protection in frontal crash tests and four stars for passenger protection.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2010 model it's highest ranking of "Good" in frontal, side impact and rear crash protection.

The Edge comes standard with dual stage front airbags, front seat mounted side impact airbags and side curtain airbags.  They also have four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes and Advancetrac with roll stability control.  There is a Power Side View Blind Spot mirror that helps the driver see while they are moving through traffic.  Ford has also installed an SOS Post Crash Alert System that flashes the hazard lights and sounds the horn in the case of an collision.  MyFord Touch interface replaces the traditional button controls with touchscreens and a five-way controller.  It includes touch sensitive sliders for the stereo volume and fan speed.

Ford has installed a new Blind Spot Information System which alerts the driver with an indicator light when a vehicle is detected entering the "blind spot zone".  It also has a cross traffic alert feature which uses blind spot monitoring  sensors to audibly and visually alert the driver to approaching traffic while they are backing up out of a parking spot or driveway.  You really can't beat half of the features that Ford has installed into the Edge.  Go to your local dealership and test drive one.  I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

American automakers sometimes take the brunt of the criticism for producing models that are ugly, useless, or even downright dangerous. Model T – What?! How can the car that introduced mass production make the list? Well, the car was fine, but Mr. Henry Ford’s statement, “…you can have any color you want as long as it is black” has been attributed with the rise of General Motors [who gave its customers a choice in colors] which eventually dethroned Ford as the top automaker in the world. No, the Model T was fine, but Mr. Ford’s marketing strategy was not.

Edsel – In September 1957, Ford launched a new division – Edsel – and introduced to America one of the weirdest looking cars. Sporting a “horse-collar” shaped grille – some equated it with a toilet seat – the Edsel line was hyped by Ford and rejected by consumers wholeheartedly. Expecting to build 200,000 Edsels in its first year of production, only 63,000 were built. Other “radical” aspects of the Edsel included a “floating” speedometer that glowed upon reaching a particular speed and an awkward push button transmission with controls attached to the hub of the steering wheel. Even with a quick makeover completed in time for the next model year, the Edsel limped along only to be pulled one month after the third model year vehicles were released.

Pinto – Hey, even I owned one! With a 2.3L inline four cylinder paired with a 4 speed manny tranny, the Pinto was Ford’s answer during the 1970s to the onslaught of Japanese cars flooding the market. The compact rear wheel drive coupe, three door hatchback, or wagon sold fairly well until disaster hit: the revelation that the Pinto’s gas tank was capable of exploding during a rear impact scared buyers away. Mercifully pulled after the 1980 model year; replaced by the popular Escort.

Mustang II – Ford tarnished the Mustang name during the 1970s with this forgettable and ugly model. Resembling a bloated and stretched Pinto, the Mustang II was weak, poorly made, and a terrible competitor against its arch rival, the Camaro. All was forgiven by the early 1980s with the return of a newly designed Mustang. Today’s Mustang, on the other hand, is a sold-out success story as it took its styling cues from a Mustang of another era: the fastback cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Before you point your finger at Ford, don’t forget to recall some truly forgettable models, foreign and domestic. The Toyota Van was panned for its ugly styling and for having an engine that had to be dropped from the engine bay in order to do a tune up; the Chevy Vega – a Pinto wannabe; AMC’s Pacer – the Jetson’s car; the Suzuki Samurai and Isuzu Rodeo – flip over specialists; the Yugo – a thinly redone 1960s era Fiat; and countless other cars not worth the mention. You hope that automakers learn from their mistakes, but don’t count on it. Maybe in another generation we will see a truly forgettable Ford show up, but for now there isn’t one in the line up...hooray for that!

Ford faced a problem with supplies when it found out that paint supplied from Japan would not be available after the earthquake, however Ford has sold this problem and found an alternative solution the problem. Ford's latest models can be purchased from a Greensburg Ford Dealer, and Ford among other automakers has had problems with Japanese sourced parts after the earthquake devastated certain regions of Japan and affected factory part output. Japanese automakers are more reliant on Japanese parts and as a result Toyota and Honda have had to actually stall operations, while Ford has not had to do so. Ford continues to produce vehicles for Sunnyvale Ford Dealership and other dealerships throughout the country.

Replacement colors were found for the paint colors which were black and metallic red, and these colors are used on models sold at Ford Dealersihp Tuscaloosa and other dealerships. On March 25 Ford told dealers that they could not order metallic tuxedo black and other shades of metallic reds due to the paint shortage because Merck KGaA who supplies the paint was not able to operate its Japanese factories due to it being too close to a nuclear reaction that was affected by the earthquake. The factory is located in Onahama and it may take up to four weeks or more before employees can get back to the facility to resume work.

The pigment Xirallic is produced by the plant and the pigment is used to give a glistening look to metallic paints. There are six more colors that will go out of production in the next few weeks due to the lack of Xirallic but there will still be a large number of colors available for buyers. Color replacement will not affect the pricing of Ford models, and Ford did raise its prices last month. Ford found a way to replace some of the colors like tuxedo black using a nonmetallic color.
